25 drug addicts rejoin families after rehabilitation in S. Afghanistan

Kabul [Afghanistan],August 23: A total of 25 drug addicted persons after a four-month medical treatment and rehabilitation have reunited with their families in southern Afghanistan's Zabul province, provincial police spokesman ZabihullahJawhar said Monday.
The former addicts, according to the official, had been held in jail for receiving medical treatment there until they recovered.
Jawhar said that all the former addicts were satisfied over their health recovery and rejoining their families.
He also noted that the provincial administration would try to create job opportunities for the former addicts.
More than 3 million drug addicts are reportedly living in war-torn Afghanistan. The Taliban-run administration banned the cultivation of opium poppy, processing into drugs and trade of opium, in April.
