Kuala Lumpur [Malaysia], December 13: Malaysia's manufacturing sales rose 12.9 percent year on year to 158.9 billion ringgit (35.97 billion U.S. dollars) in October, according to official data.
The continuous double-digit growth in sales value for October was largely driven by the petroleum, chemical, rubber and plastic products subsector which surged 23.8 percent, The Department of Statistics Malaysia said in a statement on Monday.
The expansion in sales value was also contributed by the electrical and electronics products subsector which soared 16.6 percent, and food, beverages and tobacco products subsector rose 4.6 percent.
The sales value of export-oriented industries, which contributed more than two-thirds or 74.4 percent of total sales, continued to register double-digit growth by 16.1 percent in October.
The favorable performance was in line with the acceleration in external trade exports growth and price increases.
