Seven injured as Russian guided bomb hits Sloviansk: Officials

Jan 11, 2026

Moscow [Russia], January 11: Seven civilians were injured when Russian forces dropped a bomb on the eastern Ukrainian city of Sloviansk, local authorities said on Saturday.
The regional prosecutor's office in Donetsk said the strike targeted a residential area and that the FAB-250 guided aerial bomb was used.
Moscow annexed Donetsk in September 2022 and claims the territory as its own. The fate of the region is one of the major sticking points that has stalled a potential peace deal between Ukraine and Russia.
Further north, authorities reported on Saturday a missile strike in the city of Kharkiv. Mayor Ihor Terekhov said on Telegram that an infrastructure site and a multi-storey residential building were hit, adding that the extent of the damage was not yet clear.
Ukraine was also hit by overnight drone attacks. In the Dnipropetrovsk region, three people were injured, Governor Oleksandr Hanzha said on Saturday morning.
He said a man was hurt in the regional capital of Dnipro, while a man and a woman were injured in the industrial city of Kryvyi Rih, where fires broke out following the strikes. Infrastructure and energy facilities were damaged, causing power outages, and a garage complex was also hit. Air defences intercepted 27 drones, Hanzha said.
On the Russian side, the Defence Ministry said its forces shot down 59 Ukrainian drones, including 11 over the Black Sea and 10 over the southern Krasnodar region.
Damage was reported from Russia's Volgograd region, where Governor Andrey Bocharov said an oil depot in Oktyabrsky was hit by drone debris.
The impact of Russia's air attacks has been severe for Ukraine.
In many regions, residents are facing power and heating outages amid freezing winter temperatures. Russia's military has justified strikes on grid infrastructure by saying the electricity supply is also used by Ukraine's defence industry.
