UK reports another 7,742 coronavirus cases

London (UK), June 15: Britain reported another 7,742 COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 4,573,419, according to official figures released Monday.
The country also recorded another three coronavirus-related deaths, bringing the total number of coronavirus-related deaths in Britain to 127,907. These figures only include the deaths of people who died within 28 days of their first positive test.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to announce a delay of four weeks in lifting lockdown restrictions in England later Monday, the Sky News reported.
Sky News quoted a government source as saying that the lifting of restrictions will not take place on June 21 and it will instead be postponed until July 19.
Johnson is also expected to say that the delay will allow millions more people to be vaccinated and more to receive a second jab by the end of July, according to the report.
More than 41.6 million people have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and more than 29.9 million have received their second dose across Britain, according to the latest official figures.
To bring life back to normal, countries such as Britain, China, Russia, the United States as well as the European Union have been racing against time to roll out coronavirus vaccines.
