1962 Ferrari 250 GTO supercar sold for 1,260 billion VND

Washington [US], November 14: The 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO supercar was the property of an American collector for the past 38 years, before being auctioned.
Fortune magazine reported on November 14 that a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO supercar was just sold for 51.7 million USD (1,260 billion VND) at RM Sotheby's auction in New York (USA).
The bright red car had previously been the property of an American collector for the past 38 years and had the second highest selling price in history. Previously, a Mercedes 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe was sold in Germany for 144 million USD in 2022.
The 250 GTO was sold on the evening of November 13 (local time) after a few minutes of auction, but still at a price lower than the expected price of more than 60 million USD of RM Sotheby's, Sotheby's luxury car auction subsidiary. . The auction house does not disclose the identity of the buyer.
According to RM Sothby's, appearing since 1962, this legendary Scuderia team sports car has a 4-liter engine that produces 390 horsepower.
This supercar finished second in the 1,000 km endurance race on Germany's Nurburgring racetrack. During the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the team had to withdraw due to engine failure.
After several years of racing in Italy, the car was sold to the US in the late 1960s. Restored and modified, the Ferrari 250 GTO changed hands in the US many times before falling into the hands of a collector. in Ohio in 1985, who just sold it at auction.
