Aid convoy sent to embattled Kurdish city in Syria amid fragile truce

Jan 26, 2026

Damascus [Syria], January 26: A convoy carrying humanitarian aid was dispatched to a Kurdish-majority city in northern Syria on Sunday, a day after Damascus announced an extension of the ceasefire with the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), state media and activists reported.
Activists have warned that the humanitarian situation in the city of Kobane on the Turkish border is deteriorating after recent fighting between government-linked forces and the SDF.
Waves of displaced families have poured into the SDF-controlled city from surrounding villages, fleeing a recent military campaign by the government. A convoy carrying food and medical supplies left the northern city of Aleppo on Sunday, heading to Kobane to support humanitarian needs, Syria's state broadcaster Al-Ekhbariya reported. (DPA)
