Argentina sees record daily COVID-19 count

Buenos Aires (Argentina), April 9: Argentina on Thursday reported 23,683 new COVID-19 cases of the past 24 hours, a record daily count since the outbreak of the virus, the Ministry of Health said.
A total of 2,473,751 people in Argentina have been tested positive, the ministry said, adding that 290 more people died of the disease nationwide, raising the national death toll to 57,122.
In the hard-hit province of Buenos Aires, 14,390 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours, leading the government to step up social distancing measures there, including restricting public transit to essential workers only.
The most populous province has so far reported 1,049,980 cases, the largest number among provincial regions.
Argentina has so far applied 4,879,653 doses of COVID-19 vaccines.
