At least 8 killed in Egypt bus crash: Report

Oct 06, 2024

Cairo [Egypt], October 6: A passenger minibus on Saturday flipped over in the southern part of Egypt, killing eight people, an Egyptian newspaper reported.
Ten others were injured in the accident that happened on a desert road linking the southern provinces of Sohag and Qena, the privately owned newspaper al-Masry al-Youm reported online.
Investigations showed that the vehicle turned over after its driver had lost control of the wheel, the report added.
Egyptian news portal Masrawy said the accident was due to high speeding. So far, there has been no comment from Egyptian authorities.
Fatal road crashes are relatively common in Egypt. They are often blamed on reckless driving and poor road conditions.
In October last year, a collision between a passenger bus and several cars in Egypt left at least 32 people dead.
In recent years, Egypt has built a large network of new routes, aimed at improving the overall quality of the roads.
