At least six Lebanese soldiers killed in explosion at arms depot: Military

Aug 10, 2025

Cairo [Egypt], August 10: At least six Lebanese soldiers were killed in an explosion while dismantling munitions at an arms depot, the Lebanese military said on Saturday.
Other personnel were injured in the blast, which occurred as an army unit was inspecting and dismantling the depot's contents in the southern city of Tyre, the military added in an online statement. The Lebanese state news agency NNA reported the explosion happened while an army engineering team was dismantling munitions left over from Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon.
Cross-border fighting has flared between Israel and Lebanon's Hezbollah movement since the eruption of the Gaza war in October 2023, with the Iran-backed militia attacking Israel in solidarity with the Palestinians.
