Dortmund [Germany], October 15: The dismembered body of a 62-year-old man missing for nearly a year have been found in a freezer in western Germany, investigators said on Monday.
A molecular genetic examination was carried out for the purpose of precisely identifying the remains, which were discovered over the weekend in the town of Verl. "The freezer contained the complete body of the victim," investigators from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia said in the statement. The autopsy showed that the cause of death was a traumatic brain injury caused by blunt force trauma to the head.
A 40-year-old man in whose freezer the remains were found early on Sunday has been remanded in custody. A warrant has been issued for manslaughter. The man, a Polish national, has not yet commented on the allegations. (dpa)
