Brazil to hit record number of foreign tourists at the end of this year

Brasilia [Brazil], December 21: According to Embartur, 230,000 tickets have already been bought from different parts of the world to visit local destinations between 19 December and 2 January.
After two years of restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the end of December and the beginning of January should hit records of foreign tourists in Brazil. According to a survey conducted by Management of Market and Competitive Intelligence of Embratur with the International Air Transport Association (IATA), more than 230,000 tickets have already been purchased worldwide for Brazilian destinations between December 19 and January 2.
The data calculated for this period is almost equivalent to the sum of the last two years. In 2021, were sold 153,894 tickets for the Christmas/New Year period, while in 2020 were sold 82,365 tickets. In total of these two years 236,259 thousand tickets were bought which is slightly higher than the 230,433 of tickets sold in 2022.
"Embratur intensified, in 2022, the actions to promote Brazilian tourist destinations in the main world markets and this collaborated for Brazil to have protagonism in this end of the year," added the president of Embratur, Gilson Machado Neto.
Until now, the United States leads the ranking of airline tickets purchased to Brazil between 19 December and 2 January: 52,827. Argentina comes in second place, with 40,494 tickets purchased, and Portugal in third place with15,592 tickets.
Hotels in Brasilia are already 90% booked for New Year's Eve and the inauguration of President-elect Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT). In some establishments, 100% of the rooms are already reserved, as reported by Metropoles, a partner of TV BRICS.
