Hanoi [Vietnam], September 24: Following a health setback, cải lương artist Tâm Tâm has actively returned to the stage, continuing her journey of bringing songs and performances to the audience.
Meritorious Artist Tâm Tâm is the daughter of playwright Hoang Ngọc Ẩn. Born into a family with a tradition in the arts, her passion and sense of responsibility to continue the family legacy motivated her to overcome many difficulties in her career. After her parents passed away, the female artist took on the role of head of the Thanh Nga Buddhist cải lương (traditional Vietnamese opera) troupe.
The current life of cải lương artist Tâm Tâm
In 2013, Meritorious Artist Tam Tam was pushed and fell during a robbery, resulting in a traumatic brain injury. After that incident , it was thought that the female artist would find it difficult to return to the stage. But with willpower and the encouragement of her family and colleagues, she gradually returned, continuing to fulfill the roles assigned to her at the Tran Huu Trang Theater - where she has been associated for nearly 20 years and received the title of Meritorious Artist after her long journey in the arts.
Sharing her thoughts on managing the theater during a time of significant challenges, Meritorious Artist Tâm Tâm stated that the Thanh Nga Buddhist cải lương (traditional Vietnamese opera) troupe is a socialized art organization that does not sign monthly contracts with artists, thus avoiding financial pressure to pay salaries.
She explained, "The troupe operates by bringing together artists who were close to my father and me on our journey to bring cải lương (Vietnamese traditional opera) to the audience. For each performance, the artists' expenses depend on the 'gifts' they receive from their mentors."
According to Meritorious Artist Tâm Tâm, the artists of the troupe are always united and loving, so they are willing to compromise with each other. They all share the same aspiration: to do charity work together and use their songs and performances to spread Buddhist teachings to everyone.
Regarding her personal life, Meritorious Artist Tam Tam said that after the incident, her health has now stabilized. Thanks to this, she can diligently practice and perform for audiences without feeling tired.
"For many years, I've made a living from singing. I'm a very contented person. For me, being able to sing and contribute is a source of happiness. I believe that when you know when you have enough, everything else will be enough," the daughter of artist Hoang Ngoc An shared.
