Bangkok [Thailand], February 6: The Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) in Thailand on February 5 began to stop supplying electricity to five areas of Myanmar, bordering Thailand's Tak and Chiang Rai provinces, to deal with fraud centers.
Thailand has also stopped supplying oil and broadband internet to the areas, according to The Nation. Thailand's National Security Council said there was evidence that transnational criminal gangs were operating in some border areas in Myanmar . Last month, the Global New Light of Myanmar reported that the scam centers were supplied with electricity and internet from abroad and were funded by "foreign organizations."
