Eight dead as car hits pedestrians in central Chinese city of Changsha

Beijing [China], July 28: A car driver has ploughed into a crowd of people in the central Chinese city of Changsha, killing eight people, state media reported.
According to news agency Xinhua, five others were injured, three of them seriously.
The 55-year-old driver was detained after the incident early on Saturday. The exact circumstances are not yet known.
Last weekend, a similar incident occurred in Changsha when a car rammed into passers-by seemingly at random along a busy intersection in the city centre. State media said eight people were injured, three of them seriously. (DPA)
