Founding nations sign charter to launch Global Water Organization in Riyadh

Riyadh [Saudi Arabia], May 29: Representatives from the founding nations of the Global Water Organization (GWO) signed the organization's charter in Riyadh on Wednesday, launching the GWO's operations from its headquarters in the Saudi capital, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah highlighted the GWO's role in addressing global water challenges.
"The launch of the Global Water Organization reaffirms Saudi Arabia's commitment to advancing international initiatives and tackling global challenges through partnerships founded on cooperation between nations and governments," he said.
"The Kingdom looks forward to the organization serving as an international platform that promotes sustainable solutions and supports developing countries in strengthening their water capabilities," the minister added.
The signatories of the charter include representatives from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Spain, Senegal, Pakistan, Greece, and Mauritania.
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud announced the formation of the GWO in 2023.
Through research and development initiatives, knowledge exchange, and innovative solutions, the organization aims to enhance the sustainability of water resources worldwide and ensure more inclusive and resilient water systems for the future.
