France replaces the US as the intelligence leader for Ukraine
Jan 17, 2026
Paris [France], January 17: In his New Year's message on January 15, French President Emmanuel Macron stated that Paris is providing approximately two-thirds of the intelligence to Ukraine, thereby replacing much of the role previously played by the United States.
Macron emphasized that over the past two years, Europe has gradually taken on key pillars of support for Ukraine, from arms and financial aid to intelligence
This move comes after the US suspended intelligence sharing with Ukraine in March 2025, as part of an effort to increase pressure on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to cooperate with US President Donald Trump
