Manama [Bahrain], July 30: Armed forces from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) are taking part in a joint military exercise in Bahrain, the country's Defence Force has said.
Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Dhiab bin Saqr Al-Nuaimi said the "Bahrain Shield" exercise running from July 28 to 30 was aimed at raising combat readiness, improving operational planning and strengthening coordination among Gulf forces.
Al-Nuaimi said recent violence in the region reinforced the need for joint defence. "The treacherous attacks witnessed in the region dictate that we develop joint military defence cooperation," he added. (Agencies)
