Guterres stresses importance of de-escalation, calls for urgent ceasefire across Blue Line

New York [US], August 26: Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), has expressed deep concern over the significant increase in crossfire across the Blue Line.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Stephane Dujarric, Guterres stated that these actions "put both the Lebanese and Israeli populations at risk, as well as threatening regional security and stability".
The Secretary-General called for immediate de-escalation, urging the parties to "urgently and immediately return to a cessation of hostilities and fully implement resolution 1701 (2006)".
