The Israeli army and the Shin Bet Security Agency announced on the evening of June 28 that they had killed Hamas co-founder Hakham Muhammad Issa al-Issa in the Sabra area of ​​Gaza City, northern Gaza Strip on June 27, according to Haaretz newspaper .
More than 1,200 people were killed when Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, and more than 250 were taken hostage. To date, 50 people are still being held in the Gaza Strip, but 28 of them are believed to have died.
Israel's military response to the Gaza Strip has killed more than 56,000 people and injured thousands. Medical workers in the territory said at least 72 people had been killed in attacks across Gaza since Friday evening, despite signs of a possible ceasefire. US President Donald Trump suggested on Friday that a ceasefire could begin next week.
