Israeli army says strikes Hezbollah target in S. Lebanon

Jan 20, 2026

Jerusalem [Israel], January 20: The Israeli military said that it struck a Hezbollah militant in a strike in the Zibqin area in southern Lebanon on Monday night.
It was not immediately clear if the person was killed. A military spokesperson told Xinhua that "the results of the attack are still under review."
Earlier on Monday, the Israeli military said it launched a new wave of airstrikes across southern Lebanon, targeting what it described as multiple Hezbollah sites, including military facilities where Hezbollah conducted drills, tunnel shafts, and launch positions.
The statement claimed that the attacks were in response to what it called "repeated violations of the ceasefire understandings" by Hezbollah.
Lebanon's state-run National News Agency reported that Israeli airstrikes near the municipalities of Al-Lwaiza, Jbaa, Wadi Kafarmelki area, and the Litani River basin, with heavy explosions heard across the region.
Israel has frequently carried out strikes in Lebanon, claiming they are aimed at removing Hezbollah threats, despite a U.S.- and French-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah that took effect on Nov. 27, 2024.
