Mr. Hun Sen has Covid-19

Phnom Penh [Cambodia], February 26: Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen announced on the evening of February 25 that he had tested positive for Covid-19, according to the Khmer Times today, February 26.
"To avoid confusion regarding my absence from the Senate plenary session tomorrow and the cancellation of several scheduled meetings, including the meeting with the king on the morning of February 28, I would like to inform everyone that I have contracted Covid-19," Mr. Hun Sen announced on the evening of February 25.
Mr Hun Sen explained that his symptoms began with a cough and runny nose on the night of February 24 and early morning of February 25. He stressed that Covid-19 remains a persistent threat and urged the public to be cautious.
The Cambodian Senate has yet to issue a statement on adjusting its procedures due to Mr Hun Sen's absence.
According to data from the Cambodian Ministry of Health on February 25, the total number of Covid-19 infections in the country to date is 139,327 and the number of deaths is 3,056. To date, 136,271 Covid-19 patients have recovered, according to the Fresh News portal .
More than 15.3 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines, equivalent to 95.73% of the total population, have been administered in Cambodia. The Ministry of Health said that more than 10 million shots have been administered to people aged 18 and above.
Cambodia has recorded Covid-19 cases with the Omicron sub-variants BA.4, BA.5 and the JN.1 variant. The kingdom is accelerating the sixth vaccination of its people, according to Fresh News .
