Islamabad [Pakistan], February 1: At least 10 soldiers and 88 terrorists have been killed in fierce clashes in south-western Pakistan amid a surge in terror incidents in the country, officials said on Saturday.
The militants were killed at more than 12 locations in the restive province of Balochistan targeting security forces as well as civilians.
"At least 37 terrorists have been killed by the security forces this morning," security sources told dpa. Another 51 militants were killed during the past 48 hours, the sources said.
Security forces said that the militants are sponsored by India and that they were in contact with their "handlers based in Afghanistan." The terrorists had launched coordinated attacks in all major cities including Quetta, Noshki, Dalbandin, Pasni, and Gwadar in which 10 soldiers were killed and scores of others were wounded.
"Security forces have thwarted attacks at multiple locations," Shahid Rind, a spokesperson from the provincial government said in a statement.
