No-show by South Korea's Yoon again

Dec 26, 2024

Seoul [South Korea], December 26: South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol failed to appear before law enforcement authorities for questioning on Wednesday - the second time he has ignored a summons over his attempt to impose martial law.
A joint investigation team, consisting of the police, the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO), and the Defence Ministry's investigation unit, sought Yoon's presence for questioning, the Yonhap news agency reported.
However, Yoon did not appear at the CIO office in Gwacheon as requested, after he already failed to comply with a first summons last Wednesday. It comes after South Korea's parliament voted to impeach Yoon in mid-December following his botched attempt to institute martial law. The opposition has accused Yoon of violating the constitution.
