Gaza [Palestine], November 7: Five freed Palestinian detainees arrived at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Gaza's Deir el-Balah on Thursday after being released by the Israeli army.
"Conditions are beyond any description, it is not hell but [an] inferno," one of the released prisoners, Kayan Emad, told Al Jazeera. He described torture and physical and verbal abuse. Detainees also were prevented from sleeping from 5am until midnight each day, and denied food and medical treatment, Emad said.
"Even when we were transferred from one prison to another, we were beaten and battered all the way long. My shoulder was dislocated and had eight stitches. as a result of torture," he said.
He said he witnessed the deaths of two fellow detainees, Musab Haniya and Nour Mekdad, in Israeli prison due to a lack of medical care. (Agencies)
