Officials of Turkey, Jordan, Syria, Iraq to meet for security talks in Amman

Mar 09, 2025

Amman [Jordan], March 9: Senior officials from Turkey, Jordan, Syria, and Iraq will meet in Amman on Sunday for high-level regional security talks, Turkish diplomatic sources said on Saturday.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan last month said the four countries would cooperate in fighting Islamic State extremists. Foreign, defence ministers and intelligence chiefs from the four countries will discuss security threats, counterterrorism efforts, and organized crime, said the Turkish sources.
The meeting comes as Syria is experiencing its worst violence since the ouster of president Bashar al-Assad in December. Fighting between interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa's security forces and loyalists to deposed president Bashar al-Assad has raised security concerns elsewhere in the country, including in the Kurdish militia-held north-east. Thousands of Islamic State militants are held in prisons in north-eastern Syria. (DPA)
