Olise's yellow confirmed after France appeal rejected

Foxborough (Massachusetts) [US], July 9: The yellow card shown to France winger Michael Olise in the World Cup last-16 match against Paraguay will stand, coach Didier Deschamps said on Wednesday after an appeal failed.
Deschamps told a news conference before Thursday's quarter-final against Morocco near Boston that he had received a corresponding notification from FIFA in the morning.
If Olise is booked again against the North Africans, he would be suspended for a possible semi-final.
Olise was shown what France deemed to be an unjustified yellow card in stoppage time of the heated 1-0 win against Paraguay.
Uzbek referee Ilgiz Tantashev was sharply criticized by several pundits for his overall performance last Saturday in Philadelphia.
The French federation was given hope of overturning the booking by the highly controversial case involving US striker Folarin Balogun.
The suspension of the forward, who had been shown a red card in the last-32 match against Bosnia and Herzegovina, was lifted by the world governing body and he played in the last-16 defeat to Belgium.
US President Donald Trump confirmed he had called FIFA boss Gianni Infantino to try to get the ban overturned but Infantino said Trump's intervention had no impact of the eventual decision.
