Jul 20, 2025

Jerusalem [Palestinian], July 20: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas issued a decree on Saturday about holding new Palestinian National Council (PNC) elections before the end of 2025.
The decree followed a decision by the Executive Committee of Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) during its meeting on Thursday to hold the elections before yearend, according to the Palestinian News Agency WAFA.
The date will be determined by a decision from the chairman of the Executive Committee, WAFA said.
The PNC will consist of 350 members, two-thirds of whom represent the homeland, and the other third those living abroad and in the diaspora, it said.
The Executive Committee will issue a decision to form a preparatory committee tasked with making necessary arrangements for holding the elections, it added.
The PNC serves as the PLO's parliament and includes representatives of Palestinian factions, forces, unions, and groups inside and outside the Palestinian territories.
