Jan 16, 2026

Moscow [Russia], January 16: Russia advocates strengthening the key and central role of the United Nations in global affairs, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Thursday.
Speaking at a ceremony to present credentials for newly arrived foreign ambassadors, Putin pointed out that certain countries, by the "right of might," consider it permissible to dictate their will, lecture others and give orders.
Putin said that diplomacy is "increasingly being replaced by unilateral and highly dangerous actions" and noted that imperatives of the UN Charter are now more relevant than ever.
He said that Russia will continue to pursue a balanced, constructive foreign policy and is committed to maintaining truly open and mutually beneficial relations with all partners.
