Sergei Lavrov held a meeting with the Brazilian Ambassador to Russia

Moscow [Russia], January 18: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov visited the Brazilian Embassy in Moscow on Tuesday, 17 January, where he met with Brazil's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Russia, Rodrigo de Lima BaenaSoares. This was reported by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
During the conversation, the diplomats stressed the mutual focus of the two countries on ensuring continuity in Russian-Brazilian relations and confirmed their willingness to further strengthen the strategic partnership in several areas at once.
Last year Russia and Brazil reached record in trade. By November 2022 it had risen to $8.8 billion.
Sergei Lavrov and Rodrigo de Lima BaenaSoares also noted interest in increasing interaction in the international arena. First of all, they are talking about BRICS, the G20, the UN and its Security Council. Russia will continue to develop ties with integration associations in Latin America and the Caribbean, including CELAC and Mercosur.
In addition, the Russian Foreign Minister left a note in the Book of Condolences on the death of the legendary football player Pele. The Minister noted his outstanding contribution to the development and popularisation of football.
Recall that Edson Arantes do Nascimento, Pele, the greatest player in the history of world football, died on Thursday, December 29, 2022. He was the only three-time world champion in the history of football.
