It all started when Ray moved into his daughter's room at Sarah Lawrence College in New York in 2010.
Prosecutors allege that Ray lured vulnerable victims with fabricated stories about his life, as well as his relationships with the government, law enforcement and military. team.
Accordingly, Ray was "a calculated predator" and controlled a group of students and others for his own gain as the leader of an organization he called "The Ray Family".
Ray used violence and threats of criminal prosecution to exploit many of his female classmates, physically, mentally, and sexually abusing the victims. A female student was also forced by Ray to work as a prostitute and he collected $500,000 from guests' payments.
He was arrested in 2020 and pleaded guilty to acts including human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation, forced labor, exploitation and money laundering. The defendant was found guilty in April 2022 after a trial that lasted about a month.
