Sultan bin Ahmed crowns Japanese team with first Asian Padel Cup

Sharjah [UAE], November 20:H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, crowned on Sunday evening, the Japanese team with the first edition of the Asian Padel Champions Cup, which was hosted by the University of Sharjah.
Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed handed the Japanese team players Leon Taira and ShungoKusakabe the championship cup after their victory over their Australian counterpart by three games to one, congratulating the players on this victory and hailing the great level of performance they presented during the match. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed also honoured the Australian team players Timothy Brown and Marius Zilba with the second place cup, praising their efforts during the match.
The Deputy Ruler of Sharjah watched the final match of the tournament, which was characterised by competitiveness and enthusiasm, in which the players performed at high levels that reflected the strength of the competition from its start until the final confrontation.
Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed also honoured the top three teams, champions of the amateur category, the sponsors and supporters of the tournament, and the referees of the final match, with commemorative shields, taking pictures with them, praising the organising committee of the tournament and wishing them success.
The tournament witnessed the participation of 30 players representing 10 Asian countries, namely the UAE, Qatar, Iraq, Japan, Iran and China, in addition to Indonesia, the Sultanate of Oman, Jordan and the Philippines.
Attending the final match and coronation alongside Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed were Jun Imanishi Consul General of Japan in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, Dr. HumaidMajoul Al Nuaimi, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, a number of representatives of sponsoring companies, and a large gathering of padel fans and enthusiasts.
