Trump chooses CEO of social network Truth Social as intelligence adviser

Washington [US], December 15: On December 14, US President-elect Donald Trump selected Mr. Devin Nunes, CEO of social networking company Truth Social, to serve as chairman of the intelligence advisory council.
Politico reported on December 14 that Mr. Nunes will continue to serve as CEO of Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG), the unit that operates Mr. Trump's social network Truth Social, in addition to leading the intelligence advisory council .
The Intelligence Advisory Council is a White House panel that provides the president with independent assessments of the effectiveness and planning of intelligence agencies. Nunes is a former Republican congressman from California and former chairman of the House Intelligence Committee .
"Mr. Devin will rely on his experience to provide me with independent assessments of the effectiveness and appropriateness of the activities of the US intelligence community ," Mr. Trump wrote on Truth Social on December 14.
Nunes has led TMTG since 2021. Politico said that Nunes's appointment further strengthens the connection between TMTG and the incoming Trump administration. Previously, Linda McMahon, who was nominated to be the US Secretary of Education, and Kash Patel - Mr. Trump's choice for the position of Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation ( FBI ) - were both on TMTG's board.
Also on December 14, Mr. Trump announced that he had chosen Mr. Richard Grenell as his special presidential envoy for a special mission. The president-elect said Mr. Grenell would work in hot spots around the world, including Venezuela and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. During Mr. Trump's first term, Mr. Richard Grenell served as the US Ambassador to Germany, acting Director of National Intelligence and special presidential envoy for Kosovo-Serbia negotiations.
Mr. Trump also announced his selection of Mr. Bill White as US Ambassador to Belgium and Mr. Edward Sharp Walsh as US Ambassador to Ireland.
