Trump in 'excellent' cognitive, physical health, says doctor

Apr 14, 2025

Washington [US], April 14: US President Donald Trump is in "excellent cognitive and physical health," his White House physician said on Sunday, two days after he underwent a routine physical exam.
Captain Sean Barbabella, a Navy doctor assigned to Trump, conducted the president's first physical since he retook office. The exam was carried out at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center outside Washington.
Trump, who is 78, was the oldest person to assume the presidency when he was sworn in for a second term on January 20. "President Trump exhibits excellent cognitive and physical health and is fully fit to execute the duties of the commander-in-chief and head of state," Barbabella wrote in his report.
Barbabella wrote that Trump exhibits "robust cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and general physical function." The president is 190 centimetres tall and weighs approximately 100 kilograms.
Trump was said to have passed a procedure for the early detection of cognitive impairments with 30 out of 30 points. In the test, the patient must, among other things, recognize drawn animals such as a lion or a camel, or trace a cube. The test also includes tasks that test concentration, memory and abstract thinking.
The doctor said Trump maintained an "active lifestyle," even noting the president's "frequent victories in golf events." Trump, who often spends weekends hitting the links at his properties, is known for boasting about his amateur golf trophies.
Barbabella's report said Trump is fully vaccinated and has abstained from tobacco and alcohol his entire life.
