Turkiye's exports to Africa surge to $13.3 bn in first seven months of 2026

Ankara [Turkey], August 24: Turkiye's exports to African countries rose 12.6 percent year-on-year in the first seven months of the year, reaching $13.3 billion, reflecting growing trade ties between Turkiye and the African continent.
Osman Aksoy, coordinator chairman of the Turkiye-Africa Business Councils at the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkiye (DEIK), said Turkish exports to Africa also recorded strong growth in July, increasing 16.3 percent year-on-year to $2.3 billion.
Egypt remained the leading African destination for Turkish exports in July, with shipments increasing 49.3 percent year-on-year to $426.2 million. During the January-July period, Turkiye's exports to Egypt rose 26.1 percent, exceeding $2.3 billion.
Nigeria recorded the strongest growth among the major African markets during the first seven months. Turkish exports to Nigeria climbed 52.1 percent to $453.2 million. In July alone, exports rose 7.5 percent year-on-year to $60.2 million.
Exports to South Africa also registered significant growth, increasing 31.3 percent during the first seven months to $479 million.
Meanwhile, Libya remained an important market for Turkish exporters, with shipments reaching $1.59 billion, representing a 2.3 percent increase from the same period a year earlier.
Turkish exports to Tunisia exceeded $720 million in the January-July period, up 9.9 percent year-on-year. July exports to the country stood at $101 million, a modest 0.3 percent increase.
Turkiye also recorded a sharp increase in exports to Niger in July, with shipments surging 80.5 percent year-on-year to $255 million. For the first seven months, exports to Niger rose 8 percent, exceeding $302 million.
The latest figures underline the continued expansion of Türkiye's commercial engagement with African markets, with strong growth recorded across several major destinations. The increase in exports reflects the growing importance of Africa for Turkish companies seeking to expand their international markets and strengthen trade partnerships.
The broad-based growth across Egypt, Nigeria, South Africa, Libya, Tunisia and Niger highlights the diverse opportunities available to Turkish exporters across the continent and points to the continued strengthening of Turkiye-Africa economic relations.
