Ukraine talks move into next stage in Miami

Dec 21, 2025

Kyiv [Ukraine], December 21: Negotiations on a peaceful solution to Russia's war against Ukraine after almost four years since Moscow's invasion enter their next round on Saturday.
Following talks between leading European countries, the United States and Ukraine in Berlin last Sunday and Monday, US negotiators now want to discuss the results with Russian representatives in Miami, Florida. A few days ago, a high-ranking US official announced that they wanted to meet in working groups. Military representatives are also expected to be present. The United States sees itself as a mediator in the conflict.
Ukrainian and European government representatives are also expected in Florida.
US media has reported that a meeting is planned with US President Donald Trump's special representative for Ukraine, Steve Witkoff, which representatives from the United Kingdom and France are also expected to attend.
The negotiations focus on two key issues: security guarantees and territorial issues. According to all sides, progress has been made on the planned guarantees in the event of a ceasefire. The Europeans made an offer to set up a "multinational force" with the support of the US to ensure security on land, at sea and on the ground in Ukraine. (DPA)
