Kiev [Ukraine], May 30: A woman from Odessa, Ukraine has been sentenced to more than 11 years in prison for collecting money for the Russian occupiers, according to the Ukrainian intelligence service SBU.
SBU published the verdict on its Telegram channel on Monday.
The woman allegedly organisd an appeal on social media to finance the fighters in the Russian-occupied Donetsk region.
She had been arrested back in December during an operation targeting saboteurs.
The court sentenced her to 11 years and four months in prison for supporting the aggressor state, said the report.
The woman had allegedly supported two relatives who joined separatists in the Donetsk region in 2016 to fight against Ukrainian forces.
Fighting in eastern Ukraine began in 2014 after the fall of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych.
The woman's relatives had joined Moscow's forces to occupy the city of Mariupol and parts of the Kherson region after the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine began a good 15 months ago, said SBU.
