US envoy holds talks with Europeans in Paris on ending Ukraine war

Washington DC [US], April 18: US representatives have begun talks with European counterparts in Paris to discuss ways to end the war in Ukraine.
US special envoy Steve Witkoff met with French diplomatic adviser Emmanuel Bonne. They were joined by German foreign and security policy adviser Jens Plotner.
French President Emmanuel Macron was due to hold talks with Witkoff, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot for a working lunch to discuss the Ukraine war and the situation in the Middle East as well as US tariffs, according to the Élysee Palace.
The head of Ukraine's presidential office, Andriy Yermak, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and Defence Minister Rustem Umerov also arrived in Paris on Thursday to join discussions.
Yermak was said to meet with Barrot, Rubio, Witkoff and British and German government advisers in the afternoon.
