Vietnam floods kill 37

Hanoi [Vietnam], November 4: Torrential rains over the past week have triggered severe flooding in central Vietnam, killing at least 37 people and leaving five missing, local authorities said on Monday.
The flooding has inundated parts of the country's central region, including areas around the popular tourist cities of Hue and Da Nang.
Local media said residents used boats to move through flooded streets, while tourists waded through knee-deep water.
Vietnam's disaster management agency said 78 people have been injured and about 13,000 people affected by the flooding. Around 64,000 livestock, mostly poultry and cattle, have been killed, it added.
Authorities warned of further flooding as heavy rain is expected to persist in some areas.
A tropical storm moving toward the Philippines could also reach Vietnam later this week, forecasters said.
The latest disaster comes just weeks after tropical storm Bualoi battered northern Vietnam in late September, killing dozens and destroying more than 100,000 homes.
