During the phone call, negotiators Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, were also present, Zelensky announced on his website on Wednesday evening.
Zelensky thanked the United States for its mediation in the ongoing talks, that have also involved Russia.
Zelensky pointed out in the conversation that this winter had been the most difficult for Ukraine as a result of Russian attacks.
