Crisis Response team from US reach Nepal to aid search and rescue ops at hydropower tunnel sites

Rasuwa (Nepal) : September 2, 2026: ANI: A 13-member team of Crisis Response International from USA has reached Nepal after deadly floods ravaged the Himalayan nation. Nepal government will be providing them helicopters through which all the members will go into the tunnel for rescue Ops. The 13- member team is set to undertake search and rescue operations at critical hydropower tunnel sites at Syabrubesi's Chilime in Rasuwa. According to Nepal police authorities’ death toll after deadly floods has risen to 1127 of which 45 bodies were recovered from Rasuwa. Also 155 bodies from Nuwakot, 59 from Dhading, 348 from Chitwan, 66 from Gorkha 38 from Tanahun were recovered. As per Nepal authorities 217 bodies from Nawalparasi East, 190 from Nawalparasi West and 9 in India were recovered so far. However, authorities noted that only 95 of these bodies that were found has been handed over to the families after identification. Notably, 3,916 people remain missing following the disaster and reports indicate that 1,558 people are missing in Nuwakot alone. Earlier, Search teams led by Nepal Army officers and foreign experts penetrated 300 meters into the Haku tunnel as a part of rescue Ops.
