Shopian (J&K), July 29 (ANI): With an aim to electrify even the remotest of villages in India, Government of India is focusing on hamlets in high altitude areas of Kashmir. While abrogation of Article 370 put an end to unrest in the valley, it also gave a rampant push to developmental works. Foundation stones of five projects, including mega projects like 12 MW Karnah Hydroelectric power project were laid to achieve 100 percent electrification in the Union Territory. Transformers and electric poles are being installed with proactiveness for power needs of locals. Locals expressed delight as they feel electricity will end their woes. One of the locals said, “We are thankful to the government for bringing electricity in this area. Our children will now have much needed chance to study with ease without straining in low light. Our next generation will also be benefitted from this.” Other local said, “We didn’t have electricity here for last 70 years. My grandfather said that he has not seen electricity here ever. So, now it will provide benefit to us. We’ll be able to study easily now. We are thankful to the government that they restored the electricity within 7 days. Children will now have much needed chance to study with ease without straining in low light.
